Cutting-edge extinguishers move into Vietnam
(VEN) – The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) has paid great attention to the implementation of measures on industrial hygiene and safety, and fire prevention and fighting in production.
In addition to the modernization of production lines, units have increasingly paid attention to technological measures to ensure industrial hygiene and safety, and fire prevention and fighting. Two Vinacomin units – the Vinacomin-Lam Dong Aluminum Co., Ltd., and the MICCO-Nam Bo Mining Chemical Industry Co., Ltd have installed the BlazeCut fire fighting system, which uses HFC-227ea and HFC-236fa gas and is said to be an effective, clean and people-safe extinguishing medium.
BlazeCut, an Australian technology produced based on EU standards, is popular in the US, the UK, Australia, and Singapore, where it has replaced outdated firefighting technologies. In addition to two units under Vinacomin, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Bac Ninh Province, and the Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEMC) are among the major Vietnamese users of this advanced extinguishing system.
Phan Hoang Bach, head of the Environment and Safety Division under the Vinacomin-Lam Dong Aluminum Co., Ltd., said the numerous electrical enclosures in the aluminum factory pose potential risks of fire and explosions. Since some 70 percent of fires are caused by faulty electrical systems and electrical equipment, the company has applied the BlazeCut technology to all electrical enclosures in the factory, at a total investment of nearly VND3 billion.
The MICCO-Nam Bo Mining Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. has also applied the BlazeCut technology to production locations and explosives warehouse. The company is also deploying this technology in all vehicles used for the transportation of goods, contributing to ensuring the highest level of safety.
An obvious advantage of BlazeCut technology is that it puts out small fires automatically. In addition, the system is easy to install, convenient, portable, and lighter than the water-based extinguishing system.
BlazeCut is an advanced firefighting technology, which needs to be replicated in thermal power plants, engineering workshops, and transformer stations in order to ensure the highest level of safety.
